Reformer Pilates at TAVÚ: A First-Class Guide

TL;DR: Reformer Pilates at TAVÚ is a small-group class on the reformer machine, capped at 8 participants and run for 50 minutes, moving from the gentle TA: Gentle Flow through to the advanced TAVÚ: Power Pulse. Drop-in is AED 160, with class packs from AED 1,550. Book through the website or the Mindbody app.
What Is Reformer Pilates at TAVÚ?
Reformer Pilates at TAVÚ is a small-group class performed on the reformer machine, limited to 8 participants per session, built around a 50-minute, low-impact practice that develops strength, control, mobility and alignment.
The class names reflect the TAVÚ method itself: TA for stillness, VÚ for flow — every class sits somewhere on that line between held, controlled work and continuous movement.
Inside the Reformer Room
The Reformer Room is an intimate studio space built around the reformer machine's spring-based resistance, with every class kept to 8 participants. Sessions run 50 minutes and are designed to be adaptable — precise and quietly challenging rather than high-impact.
A reformer is a sliding carriage attached to a set of springs: the springs supply the resistance, and the carriage lets you move through a full range of motion under constant, controlled tension.
Who It's For
Because every TAVÚ reformer class is capped at 8 participants and runs across six different formats, it works equally well as a first introduction to Pilates and as an ongoing strength practice for someone who already trains. Start with TA: Gentle Flow if you're new to the reformer or want a slower, more controlled session; move into VÚ: Steady Strength or VÚ: Tone & Tighten once you're comfortable with the equipment; and use TAVÚ: Power Pulse or the targeted Lower Body × Core / Upper Body × Core classes once you're ready for a more intense, focused session.
Finding Your Class — From TA to TAVÚ
TAVÚ runs six reformer formats, so there's a class for wherever you're starting from:
- TA: Gentle Flow (all levels) — a slower, controlled class focused on mindful movement, mobility, alignment and full-body strength.
- VÚ: Steady Strength (intermediate) — purposeful resistance sequences that build muscular endurance, stability and control.
- VÚ: Tone & Tighten (intermediate) — controlled resistance and targeted sculpting work from head to toe.
- TAVÚ: Power Pulse (advanced) — a high-intensity class of powerful resistance work, controlled pulses and challenging transitions.
- Lower Body × Core — glute and leg strength paired with deep abdominal activation and stability training.
- Upper Body × Core — arms, shoulders, back and core, built for upper-body strength and definition.
What to Expect at Your First Class
Come in comfortable workout attire and bring water. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled class — arriving 10 minutes or more after the start time means entry won't be permitted, and each class needs a minimum of 4 participants booked to go ahead.
Reformer-style Pilates is a low-impact form of exercise. The UK's NHS describes Pilates generally as "a form of exercise that focuses on balance, posture, strength and flexibility," and notes it's suitable for most fitness levels (see Sources below) — though if you have an injury or a medical condition, check with your doctor before your first class.
